Saffron and lemon infused syrup

While rejecting Coca-Cola, since they are sponsoring the theft of land and killing of women and children in Gaza. I was looking for an alternative drink. And came upon making a drink that would offer refreshment as well as the Islamic flavor. As anciently,  saffron was mostly cultivated in Iran is popular in arab cuisines.

Ingredients:

sugar 2 cups

Saffron I used 1.5 gram pack( for a pure golden color

Salt: 1/4th teaspoon

Lemon: lemon gest 2/3grams. I used fresh lemon skin and 2 teaspoon lemon juice.

Water: 2 cups for a runny syrup.

Preparation time 15 minutes.

In the oven top, first bring the water and sugar to the boiling point and than add lemon juice and boil another 2 minutes.

Put the saffron strands in the jar intended to preserve it. Since I made the syrup to preserve, I selected a container with wide lid to easily strain the mixture of lemon sugar syrup. As it cools down, the saffron will be infused in the water the rich golden color old spread through the syrup with the heavenly saffron aroma.

It is good to go in the freeze for 15 days and upto 6 months in the freezer.

This syrup can be used to make various drinks warm or cold.

The most popular variation is with chia seeds and psylliumhusks.

Also refreshing with black tea during the cooler months.
